Am I too old to write? Or am I just the write, er right, age?
Most women know about sore feet due to high, pointy shoes. Why is that?
Set in 1966 Alberta, Mara Adkins has a plan. A torado ripping through her neighborhood disturbs it.
When she was just 12, Marasol Adkins nearly drowned her baby sister in the bath, causing their widowered father to give the baby away. Mara learned then that she should not be a mother, especially when she had a child out of wedlock four years later and it was also given away.
Now it’s 1966, women are expected to be wives and mothers, but Mara, a divorcee, is office manager of a trucking firm, with big plans for the business and a new romantic relationship with the head mechanic. But a tornado rips through her neighborhood leaving two newly orphaned boys in her care. She’s not meant to be a mother, but now she must fake it as she drives them 600 miles to their relatives.
